Making sure you can successfully recharge when you go to another owner's home will be most straightforward if you have the same make and model of EV.

It's also important to check whether the charging unit has a

tethered lead, in which case it can only charge the type it fits
or
no tethered lead, in which case you can plug in either type 1 or type 2 (see box below).

Untethered wall boxes are therefore much more flexible if you are an EV owner wanting to rent out your charger.

The power rating of the wallbox influences the charge time. You should discuss this and make sure you are clear about the recharge time you need when setting up the recharge with the owner/householder.
